Coherence of Design

One of the more intriguing questions we get from our clients is whether you can create a different identity in your personal life from the identity you create in your professional life.

The answer to this question is, of course, “yes, you can create two different identities.”

But maybe the better question is, “why would you want to?”

As one of our clients said, “I don’t have a personal life and a professional life – I have a life.”

We would agree with this sentiment, which is why we claim that The Game for people is about creating and preserving identity.

Life is more important than this game, but this is The Game for us as human beings.

So, if we are right (and we’re convinced that we are), why would you want to expend the unnecessary energy of creating multiple identities?

Why not invest in creating coherence of identity?

This doesn’t mean you say the exact same thing about your personal brand to your spouse and children as you do to your clients and colleagues.

But it does mean that you build around one central theme.

In life, we all have a finite amount of time and energy – so use yours wisely and start by developing a brand that is coherent in all areas of your one life.
